When developing a site, hits are crucial and UNIQUE hits are even more crucial! A majority of people who view your site are one's looking for similar sites and you have to stack up to their comparison .

I have two sites I will give examples too which are both mine and I will list them as "Currently Using" and "Non Using"

The non-using one I created before, and then learned.

Tips:
Looks -- Looks are important, you want a clean looking fast loading page, and if you make a domain and or take a free one it is idea to use a template of some sorts or make your own. CSS is a crucial aspect to these, as you see I failed to use in my Non-Using one, instead using a bunch of images. So looks as you see with what I put and clutteredness. You'll notice on the Current one I have things going on, but it's laid out and not too much, along with many little links to different parts that LOAD in one area, not new pages. [Enables faster loading]

Clutter/Spam -- The current using one is a template, and that's all that's there. The Non-Using one is cluttered and has a box at the bottom, and even an email service that I got for free. These are AWESOME! Adds to your site, HOWEVER remember that sometimes users do not like everything flashing towards them keep them pleasing to look at.

Advertise -- Signup on Google, use Meta Tags [Look up on google how to use meta tags if you are unfamiliar], get the word out, but be polite about it. If you're spamming on other places, you're going to get nothing but spam in return! Remember that .

Keeping you Safe / Less Spam -- Spam for your email is horrible. So when contacting yourself with emails try using a MailTo tag found in HTML searches. This prevents bots from getting it and spamming your inbox with loads of unwanted information. Also have a good selection of mods that can clan up and keep your information safe on your forums. NEVER give out an admin access to another person online. Always keep it to you and a close friend if necessary. Mods can have loads of power, just never give them access to deny you access of being an admin.

Finally Enjoy -- Enjoy your site! Most sites are slow to begin with, but as they build you will soon find out if your idea is accepted by the public!
